Shriveled Beauty

“Suddenly, as rare things will, it vanished”

— Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Recently I announced the book “The Interior Sight”, my first book that I co-created in collaboration with my endearing friend and book author Victor Peláez. This is one of the stories in the book that we titled “Shriveled Beauty”.

The night finally falls, heralding the promise of a new day. Like the flower in this image, we shrivel as time passes by, in our case we call it “old age”.

Any moment from certain age forward, old age will come; the challenge then is learning to live with it, without surrendering. It is a mistake to think that with old age beauty ends, it is only transformed, and in many cases, it shows through the internal beauty.

There are those who age with majesty, and there are others who only turn old succumbing to the absence of youthfulness, without realizing that youth is an undeniable gift of nature.

It is necessary to understand that our capacity to increase consciousness does not diminish with old age. “Experience is the sum of our mistakes” and by simple arithmetic, we can conclude that the older we are, the more experience we have.

If you like this story and my photography you can acquire either the book or magazine.
